Rogers Waters prepara una edición para audiófilos de su disco en solitario de 1992 “Amused To Death”. El ingeniero de Pink Floyd, James Guthrie, responsable de la producción del álbum, utilizando las cintas analógicas originales, está preparando un máster multicanal 5.1 para la edición en SACD. Y junto a Doug Sax trabaja en el máster en vinilo. Tanto el SACD como el doble vinilo, que serán publicados en septiembre, contendrán grabaciones inéditas.

Roger Waters, long-time Pink Floyd engineer James Guthrie to oversee remix of 1992′s Amused to Death

Roger Waters returns to his greatest solo triumph, 1992′s Amused to Death, for new stereo and 5.1 remixes with James Guthrie, the long-time Pink Floyd engineer. The forthcoming reissue, issued via Columbia-Legacy, will also include new content and graphics.

Guthrie, who worked as a mixer on the original project, will preview samples of these newly mastered tracks on April 12, 2014, at Princeton University as part of the Pink Floyd: Sound, Sight, and Structure interdisciplinary conference.

Even two decades later, Waters’ theme on Amused to Death rings true — as people, more than ever, are addicted to their screens. Compared favorably by critics to George Orwell’s 1984, Waters and a band that includes guitarist Jeff Beck offer an urgent interrogation of the West’s mass media and advertising consumption, now more prevalent than ever.

The results are on par, both musically and as a cultural milestone, with Waters’ earlier Pink Floyd masterpieces Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall. Guthrie served as engineer for The Wall, then co-produced 1983′s The Final Cut, Waters’ final album with Pink Floyd. He later oversaw the 5.1 remastering of Dark Side on its 30th anniversary.
